Decorative stone and mulch

Decorative stone and mulch provide aesthetic and functional values to your landscape. They are relatively easy to install and generally provide a low maintenance option for your yard.

A selection of various colours and textures help to bring attention to certain areas but also hide any imperfections by creating an even and clean image over the landscape. Benefits of such ground coverings can help preventing unwanted weed growth, prevent soil erosion and help to retain the moisture within the soil. Specific stone layers can also be used to enable surface drainage if you have water pooling in some areas of your yard.

Decorative stone is available in a variety of colours, shapes, sizes, and textures. This medium does not require any special maintenance and is a long lasting solution to ground covering.

Natural mulch, usually made from pine or cedar wood chips, is often dyed and available in  red, brown, black, and a light natural colour. The benefits of natural mulch are lower initial costs compared to other ground coverings, however there is a level of maintenance required in order to keep up its appearance.

Synthetic mulch, made from recycled rubber, is safe and eco-friendly, and offers the following benefits over natural mulch:

- Lower maintenance, no re-application required for a long period

- Does not degrade

- Stronger material that does not splinter or compress

- Much longer colour retention

Although synthetic mulch is more costly initially, because it does offer superior benefits over time, it has proven to be more cost effective in the long run.
